Arrest Made in Beardstown Baby Death

An arrest has been made in the case of the death of a ten month old baby in Beardstown Friday night.

Beardstown Police report 28-year-old Jose Nieto-Roman has been charged with child endangerment, with additional charges likely to be filed later.

Illinois State Police investigators report the infant died as the result of blunt force trauma in his home Halloween night.

Nieto-Roman is the live-in boyfriend of the child’s mother. He was caring for the child that night.

Nieto-Roman is in a Springfield hospital for treatment of self-inflicted stab wounds.
