A Hannibal man faces several charges after Hannibal Police were called for an accident on St Mary’s Avenue early Thursday morning.

Police say 29-year-old Brandon Slaybaugh is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended.

Police say Slaybaugh hit a utility pole in the 2600 Block of St. Mary’s Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday and then left the scene. Police say Slaybaugh was located a short time later and arrested. The utility pole fell and blocked traffic on St. Mary’s. The crash also knocked out electric service in the area.

Police say Slaybaugh was released on a summons to appear in court.
