Farmers in most of northeast Missouri and western Illinois are now eligible for low-interest loans and other federal assistance in light of the rainy summer of 2015.

Both Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner report that their requests for natural disaster area designations have been approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Counties in the designated areas include Clark, Lewis, Lincoln, Marion, Pike and Ralls in Missouri and Adams, Brown and Pike in Illinois.

Farmers in those counties who think they might be eligible for assistance are asked to contact their local Farm Service Agency office.
