A Palmyra man is sentenced Friday after being convicted in July of elder abuse.

Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton reports that Judge David Mobley accepted the jury’s recommendation and sentenced 43 year old Anthony Villeme to ten years in prison after being found guilty in Monroe County Circuit Court on a change of venue from Marion County.

Villeme was alleged to have struck a 74 year old man in the face several times in 2016, causing serious physical injury.

Clayton says that according to the Board of Probation and Parole, Villeme will have to serve a minimum of 85 percent of his sentence.
