Another push is underway for a new bridge across the Mississippi at Louisiana.  A group of regional officials is seeking written and online support by the end of the day  in advance of a March 10 presentation before the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.

Louisiana Mayor Bart Niedner will speak for the Northeast Missouri representatives, who will make clear that they believe replacing the 87-year-old Champ Clark Bridge should be first on the list for scarce dollars.

Missouri has a well-documented transportation funding problem, but one official says there’s still room for priority projects such as the bridge replacement even in the state’s new maintenance-only plan.

People who would like to submit comments may go to Ask Mayor Niedner on Facebook.
