Federal prosecutors have filed another charge against a 29-year-old Columbia man accused of supplying heroin to a 16-year-old girl who died of a suspected overdose.

The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri said Wednesday in a release that a federal grand jury added a charge accusing Jon Patrick Washington of maintaining a drug-involved premise. The new charge comes in a superseding indictment that replaces the 2014 indictment against Washington, who's in federal custody. He's also charged with distributing heroin to a minor.

Prosecutors say Columbia police officers responded to a suspected heroin overdose death at a Columbia hotel in April 2014. The victim was a 16-year-old female.

The public defender's office representing Washington said lawyers there don't discuss their cases with the media.
