Hannibal Police receive a donation to support efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking and related offenses.

Police chief Lyndell Davis says $20,000 comes from a married couple formerly of Hannibal. Davis says the couple contacted police three months ago and expressed interest in offering financial support to the department’s crime fighting efforts—especially regarding drug sales. The couple met with Chief Davis and members of the command staff in October to discuss how the funds would be used if provided. Davis says the money will be invested in additional surveillance equipment and that orders will be placed early next year after price quotes are obtained. The couple requested to remain anonymous.
