The animal cruelty case against a Quincy veterinarian was continued Friday morning at a bond modification hearing in Adams County Circuit Court.

That means for now, Dr. Andrew Kaiser will continue to be allowed to treat animals. Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Cifaldi noted that their office had received a number of requests that Kaiser not be allowed to treat animals while his case is pending.

Cifaldi told the court that whether Kaiser be allowed to treat animals is the decision of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

That agency has a hearing on a 15 count complaint filed against Kaiser scheduled for September 22nd.

Kaiser operates the Katherine Road Animal Hospital, and had the city of Quincy’s animal control contract until last April.

Kaiser’s next court appearance is set for October 28th.
