The latest prediction on the Mississippi River levels results in the decision to install all five of Hannibal’s flood gates this weekend.

According to Hannibal Emergency Management Director John Hark, the city will set all of its flood gates starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

As of midday Thursday, the National Weather Service forecast that the Mississippi at Hannibal would reach 21.7 feet by Monday evening. Flood stage is 16 feet.

For all of the flood gates to be set, the predicted river crest must be 21.5 feet or more.
