An Illinois investigator found workers at an agency under Governor Pat Quinn violated hiring laws by helping an employee's husband get hired, evading "blind" interview rules and granting improper pay increases. The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity told the executive inspector general in a report released yesterday that two employees completed counseling — one no longer works at the agency and another resigned to avoid getting fired.
