The projected deficit in the Adams County budget for the 2013 fiscal year took another dip after the Finance Committee learned Monday that one vacancy in the circuit clerk's office would not be filled.

The Quincy Herald Whig reports that an administrative assistant position within the department will be left vacant after a new deputy clerk is selected from the existing staff by Lori Geschwandner, who was elected circuit clerk last week.

The county is now facing a projected deficit of $46,800 instead of $86,000.

The 2013 fiscal year budget, which starts Dec. 1, calls for $13.341 million in general fund expenses, up 0.3 percent, and revenues of $12.623 million, an increase of 2 percent.
