The Marion County Commissioners announced Monday that an 88-year-old bridge in Taylor will be closed to traffic next week.

According to Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode, MODOT recently completed a thorough inspection of the bridge over the Fabius River in Taylor.

Monday, MODOT presented their recommendation to the commission that the bridge be closed. The commission set November 8 as the closing date for the bridge.

In anticipation of the closure, Bode presented a plan to the commission to replace the bridge. That plan will be discussed further in a meeting that will be open to the public next Monday at 9:30 a.m.

Bode hopes the bridge can be replaced within a year.
