About 40 people participated in Planting Day at Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department’s Common Ground Community Garden Saturday, May 17.

Donors of supplies and plants included Michael Gaines, Rena Augsburg, Peters Greenhouse, River City Restoration and Jean Meyer, Ron Meyer, Salt River Master Gardeners and FACT (Families and Communities Together).

Garden coordinator Jesse Dryden said the organic garden is open for the season and volunteers are need to help water, weed, mulch and prune.

A volunteer orientation and potluck will be 6 p.m. May 29 at the garden, Eighth Street and Warren Barrett Drive.
