A traffic stop for speeding on I 72 near Winchester Wednesday results in marijuana trafficking charges for two Ohio women.

Illinois State Police say they observed indicators of criminal activity and a K-9 unit alerted to the presence of drugs during a free air sniff. The resulting search of the vehicle yielded two duffel bags containing 27 pounds of high grade marijuana.

Police say the drugs were being smuggled from Los Angeles to Columbus Ohio. Street value of the seized marijuana is around 306-thousand dollars.

57 year old Cheryl Tucker of Columbus Ohio and 48 year old Candi Mathias of Marengo Ohio were taken to the Pike County Jail and held on 250-thousand dollars bond.
