(Monroe City, Mo)—The Monroe City Basketball Tournament generated more than just sports headlines, after a $25,000 check for new technology for Monroe City students was presented on the court last Monday. The grant sponsored by the Monsanto Fund is to be used for whiteboards, document cameras and Activote clickers for elementary classrooms. More than 1,000 school districts were nominated by farmers across the country. The America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Advisory Council selected the winners. The Monsanto Fund plans to invest over 2 million dollars into rural education through this program.
