A popular 5K/10K run in Hannibal will come to an end, at least in its current format, after this year.

The Hannibal Clinic has hosted the Mississippi River Run for a number of years. The feature that has made this run unique is the chance for participants to run across the Mark Twain Bridge as part of the event.

Local officials learned Thursday that the Federal Highway Administration will no longer allow these kinds of races on interstate bridges.

The Mississippi River Run takes place Saturday, August 23.
