The American Legion Riders Post 55 will once again sponsor the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Hannibal on November 10.

The parade will stage at 10am at the Save-a-Lot parking lot, and will begin at 11am. Trollies will be available for any veteran that would like to ride in this year's parade. In addition, businesses, school groups, civic organizations, etc. are invited to participate in the parade; there is no fee to enter.

The 2012 Veteran's Day Parade will begin at 10th and Broadway and will proceed towards Main Street. There will be a stop for the pledge of allegiance in front of the Elks Lodge. The parade will then turn north on Main Street and travel to North Street.

Coinciding with the 2012 Veterans Day Parade, the Historic Hannibal Marketing Council will sponsor the first Freedom 5K Run/Walk. The walk will raise funds for an improved veterans' memorial in downtown Hannibal.

The race will begin at the intersection of Main and Bird streets, continue on a flat path in downtown Hannibal and will wrap up as the parade begins. Registration forms are available from Parks and Recreation, Native American Trading Co., Java Jive, the Powder Room, the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum, Danni Nicole’s and Chocolaterie Stam.
