A 130-year-old barn in Hancock County is moving to a new site.

The barn named for builder Alexander Bolton will move to the Western Illinois Threshers grounds north of Hamilton.

The Herald-Whig reports the barn was built in 1884. Bolton's great-great-grandson Ron Starr bought the structure with his wife, Patti, and has been taking it apart. The Starrs farm across the road and stepped up when the barn's owner, a Quincy resident, wanted it taken down.

Fred Buckert is president of the Western Illinois Threshers. He says the barn will be welcomed on the grounds of the organization which preserves historical agriculture. The site is already home to a church, schoolhouse and other attractions.

The barn is constructed with tongue-in-groove mortise and tenon joints.
